The bottom line is, no matter HOW diverse we THINK we are (as a society) or how one big utopia we THINK or would like to believe we are melting into one big pot as; the fact of the matter is (like I explained in this article here and here): White people are ‘going to’ always “White” and Black people are ‘gone always “Black.” It is what it is.
Oh. You ask: How do we fix that?
It’s as simple as [saying]: Regardless our race, be open to setting aside all our differences, prejudices, stereotypes, and preconceived notions about other NOT like us to the extent that we are willing to listen to understand (and make changes) versus listening–only to project our differences, prejudices, stereotypes, preconceived notions (and suppositions
And well—when Matt’s done “white-boying,” (if I should turn his own words to his face): if he begins to start “leaving all other factors out”…he will find that there are indeed directors of color “with merit” out there. They really ARE out there (and probably are on, or will be heading right to his project/show).
