For the second year in a row, hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, while one of television’s biggest award show nights at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre appeared to pull off as poised as the poignancy of Jesse Williams’ BET Awards speech, reportedly, it was anything but in some big areas.
While all ass was out in spirit of Prince, who [the likes of Erykah Badu, The Roots, Stevie Wonder, Bilal, Tori Kelly, Jennifer Hudson, Maxwell, Janelle Monae and his protégé SheilaE ) paid a throw-down tribute to as BET promised,
…a few of its biggest stars couldn’t give it the undivided attention they may have wanted to, one-leaving it up to mom to explain (and get dragged by her fans) while she strutted her stuff, shook her butt, broke free and hauled a$$ right out the building shortly after opening the show with performing “Freedom” with Kendrick Lamar.
Beyonce was gone before she could even accept her award for best Female R&B/Pop Artist (and 2 addt’l awards) leaving it up to her mom to pick up the tab which ultimately got her ‘slayed’ opposite the ‘Beyonce’ way by Beyonce’s own fans (to which she just found out about and replied, yesterday).
Needless to say, Beyonce was off stage, gone, up and away before quick got ready and her fans weren’t happy.
