Last month Other Side of the Fame told you about our guy rapper Nas’ documentary “Time is Illmatic” premiering at Robert DeNiro’s Tribeca Film Festival and having done incredibly well there.
Well… onward and upward is the motion and direction that things have gone even since then.
The documentary has since been featured at the Cannes Film Festival in France after landing a global distribution deal !
Here’s the deal (literally):
The North American rights for the documentary were secured by Tribeca Film company (owned by Robert Niro) after the rap doc premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival [this past April].
The movie has now been sold to Japan, Australia, and all across Europe. Film execs at Submarine picked up the distribution deal this past Tuesday on the film which is inspired by the release of Nas’ debut album “Illmatic.”
“Illmatic” is one of raps most well-respected bodies of work and goes down in rap history as the classic that it is and up in significance–as are the things that have transpired from it.
Congratulations are an order !
