Now we know why The Voice of New York (slash) “Butter P” honey Angie Martinez may not be apart of the Ladies Night reunion at the Soul Train Music Awards November 7 (but airing on November 30):
In 7 hours, 45 minutes, and 57 seconds, she just finished a 26.2 mile run in the New York City marathon on Sunday to raise awareness for the PitCCh In Foundation program which benefits inner-city youth.
Martinez received donations totaling $26,200.00 as a result of her crossing the finish line.
Of that, Diddy (as well, having run the marathon himself, fully understands). He, along with Clear Channel Radio, Steve Stoute, and others matched a percentage of that-raising Angie’s total to $41,630 for the cause.
Most probably resting up after the big race (while DaBrat, Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim and Left Eye-having passed, will be there to rehearse in spirit), Angie had this to say about how she’s feeling and her spirits:
“Every piece of my body hurts, but today I fell in love w/ my city in a whole new way. It was my city, my friends, my family, complete strangers & the grace of God that got me passed the finish line.#WeMadeIt !”
