Nobody finessed it better than Beyonce when she [sang]: “sometimes shit goes down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”
Because from the looks of the video-taped evidence [of all that was rumored, speculated, commentated and imagined about just what went down on the elevator between NFL player Ray Rice and his (then) girlfriend Janay], Jay Z getting intermittingly wailed on by Solange and holding his composure without lifting one finger to hit her back…
…is making Ray Rice’s shit going down in an elevator smell pretty bad.
A couple of months ago the world of social media was set ablaze when Rice was suspended for it being said that he struck his (then) girlfriend in the face after an altercation had gone down in the elevator, after she supposedly had hit him first.
Well since then, the couple had gone to counseling and gotten married—as if their moving onward and upward-the media should too. Well it doesn’t quite go like then when all that was rumored and speculated comes turns to fright and fruition when video-taped evidence leaked by TMZ shows the couple arguing, the girlfriend striking [not wailing on] Rice (one time)-right before the door closes-then from there is where the shit went down—as did she.
At the moment the elevator door closed Ray Rice delivered a bit it of R&R in his own rendition of rest and relaxation-courtesy of his fists and lay Janay out cold—as if he just hit a dude.
When the elevator door opens, he then attempted to drag her unconscious body out of the elevator. At this time, other people could be seen on the video tape. Janay looks to have regained consciousness at that time.
Before TMZ leaking the actual footage, it is said that the commissioner reviewed the actual footage and from there, suspended the Baltimore Ravens player-from two games. Shortly thereafter, a press conference was held where Janay publicly apologized for the part she played in the footage [and from there, the couple got married].
After TMZ leaked the full footage, stills, and actual video (of all that had gone on from start to finish: opening, during, closing and reopening of the elevator door)’ social media was set ablaze.
Among the many, fellow (former) NFL player Deion Sanders spoke out:
…and so did fans:
With hotel video-tape evidence looming of such a horrid altercation of a man striking a woman like such (and the commission punishing Rice with a mere two-game suspension); coincidentally (with regard to two-game suspension as “punishment”) the NFL commissioner sent a letter to the Ravens’ owner stating he [quote] “did not get it right” [unquote].
Whether decided upon before, or after the full video tape was leaked, the new domestic violence policy with stiffer “punishment” including a six-game suspension without pay/1st offense and lifetime ban from the league/2nd offense; the fact of the matter is, with such damaging evident now in the hands of the public, the Ravens have now terminated Ray Rice.
With the NFL insisting on such a squeaky clean organization…(up to and including their insistence on whomever plays a mere 15-minute set Super Bowl night, take note that even so much as flipping the bird, is offensive); after the actual/full video-tape leaked to the public, it’s no wonder they would take such swift action on Ray Rice (who actually plays for NFL) rather than flipping the bird, used his whole entire fist and laid his girlfriend out on the elevator floor left to hear birds chirping.
Over time, unfortunately, there have been other domestic violence-related incidents involving NFL players. Years ago, NFL player Ray Carruth was jailed for the (contracted) murder of his pregnant girlfriend Cherika Adams whose child now survives with cerebral palsy and is being cared for by the woman’s mother.
More recently however, Kansas City Chief player Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend who has just had a baby, and then proceeded to drive to the Chief’s practice facilities and turned the gun on himself.
Needless to say, this whole thing is not over yet. Because now, with Rice’s firing (upon release of the video to the public, whereas, at having that same video reviewed unpublicized-and he was merely slapped with a two-game suspension), even upon his firing, Rice may be left running with the ball.
As well, Janay [Rice] is standing by her man.
She took to her social media account and posted these word out to the world [in support of Ray Rice and the Raven):
“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific.”
She continued: “THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”
Well, she may have a point about one thing (with regard to the part where she stated): To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific.”
Having said that, another fact in this matter is, somebo[ies] held onto the full video for this long and conveniently decided to release it riiiiiiiiiight at the start of the season.
The saga continues…
