The new treatment was simple.
This time around, that good-looking singing guy who once rode the public bus for transportation had “made it” and was now driving a Phantom—pulling up next to the bus stop where stood another who looked JUST like he did (in the ’94 commerical): dressed in the same digs, but singing aloud at the bus stop.
By the time Tyrese pulls up next to the bus, the guy was on the bus-drinking his can of Coke singing aloud (from his headphones): a verse of Tyrese’s song: “Lately“
“Have I told you I love you.
Have I told you you still mean the world to me?
Have I told you I love you?”
…so from down in his Phantom, Tyrese could hear the boy singing by the window-his own song. So he looks up at the bus and window.
With excitement (that it’s actually Tyrese), the boy looks down and points as the bus is pulling off…to the next line of the song (that the boys falls back in his seats to sing to: “I’ll be your wishing well tell me what you want?”)
…And Tyrese strolls down the street drinking his Coke with a reminiscent smile on his face-with a look on his face-remembering he was that same guys years ago….
The end.
Welp.
Although the Coke and Tyrese reboot never got off the ground, Tyrese was indeed someone else’s wishing well in another big, grand way by helping a young man further his education at one of the most prestigious and well-respected universities: Morehouse College.
Fast and Furious‘ Tyrese himself, comes from the humble beginnings of the tough streets of Watts, California where to make it out and be as successful as he’s been isn’t exactly what’s expected.
Well he defied that and someone else in another rough part under the sunny skies of California in a neighborhood like that which Tyrese remembers all too well will get
