“The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire. We don’t need no water let the muthfka burn!” is often the sentiment chanted and yelled when a party going down at a venue. But never do we party goers want that to happen literally.
Rain certainly came down last night in the legendary venue where a great majority of the movie Purple Rain was set (in Minneapolis, Minnesota).
Although the venue was the place where a great majority of the movie “loosely based” on “FunkAndRoll” star Prince’s life was filmed, First Avenue was hardly a fictitious setting-real live bands did then (in the 80s) and up ‘til now (2015) played there with its next superstar scheduled to perform this Saturday: Miguel in its Main Room.
Last night however, the club was shut down around 10:15 p.m. during a show where the group Theory of a Deadman performed. As per witnesses in the crowd, smoke was spotted-followed by sprinklers going off in the back which is where the roof came down-injuring 3 of the approximate 750 people
