Everybody that loved D oris Roberts loved and remembers this Everybody Loves Raymond intro:
Hollywood is saddened by the silencing of the monotonous, simple-wit satire of “Raymond”’s bothersome, imposing mom “Marie,” [played by] D oris Roberts.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of D oris Roberts, an amazing lady and brilliant actor. D oris was vibrant and full of life both on and off the stage, and I am so grateful we shared so many wonderful mem ories. I will miss her greatly and will always remember her incredible kindness, humor, talent and heart.” -Brad Garrett

Although from 1996-2005 many of us first fell in love with Raymond’s mom on Everybody Loves Raymond (by which she won 4 Emmys), Roberts was known, loved, and working as an actress long before our time.
The St. Louis born actress was raised in New York and snagged her first acting role on Broadway in 1955 in The Time of Your Life.
From there, she continued to do film and stage/theatre thereafter before securing a spot in the casts of popular television shows St. Elsewhere (co starring Denzel Washington, Howie Mandel and Mark Harmon) and too, Remmington Steele (co staring Pierce Brosnan) and having starred in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Grandma’s Boy.
