Carruth’s child (Cherica Adams, then-24,) had her vehicle “sprayed up” where four bullets landed: two in her neck and two in her torso however, the shooting left her with breath enough and time to place a call to 911 to give details about just what had happened after she and Carruth left the theater after a date: Carruth drove in front of her and made a sudden stop where someone else pulled alongside her and began spraying the car with bullets on that fateful 11.16.99 day.
After Adams placed the phone call to 911 she was rushed to the hospital where the child was delivered via C-section and lived, but suffers from cerebral palsy. Cherica, who slipped into a coma the next day, died one month later.
Currently, the child is being cared for by Adams’ mother.
Carruth is up for parole on October 22, 2018-when the child will be 18 years old.
The hitman, Van Brett Watkins, is currently serving a prison sentence of 50 years, and still holds disdain and anger for Carruth for “getting him involved” in this.
