Five-time Grammy winning 90s supergroup TLC are planning to be back in studio to work on their fifth and final album. Although yet untitled, this album will surely happen—contingent upon their fans.
Having sold a record 65 million records worldwide + the loyal fan base that they have, we’re looking forward to this new news happening.
Before the untimely death of 1/3rd of its members (Left Eye) their widely successful album Fanmail (which includes hits like Unpretty and No Scrubs) was dedicated and done for the fans whose names were listed inside the liner notes of their Fanmail CD.
Developing a digital outreach project is nothing new to TLC. Back when the idea of the digital download was all but a curiosity about developing technology rather than the necessity it is today, TLC was the first musical act to partner up with MP3.com to distribute their single “I Need That” amid promoting their 1999 Fanmail tour.
Now they are going through fanmail in a different way-having developed a Kickstarter Campaign to reach out to fans to get involved
“This is about our fans getting involved,” Chilli explained in a statement.
“At this point we’ve got the fans who have been with us since day one. With this album on Kickstarter we can bring them all together as our collaborators. I can’t think of a better way to create our last album.”
Obviously, TLC has paid their dues in this business.
So put your hands up and get involved today!
