To know me even through my humor to my serious side; I’m a bottom line kinda girl. Blame the writer in me but I happen to process the story I’m being told, or the question I’m being asked, or the conversation being had-by starting from the bottom: Hand me the conclusion and the bottom line, first.
That being said, tragedies are real to me. With the implementation of social media, I know how easy it is for a tragedy (or a triumph) to take effect to the point of a chain reaction-like phenomenon. And although it’s nice to know that it “creates awareness,” without change being done or somebody/ies putting their heads together to create awareness past marching, Kumbaya, signs, social media hashtags, theories, and Don Lemon chronicles, mounting numbers of people being “aware,” watching, and tenacious on a social media timeline means nothing without something being done effective over emotion.
And if you’re serious about doing more than offering deep commentary and hastags on social media-you will sign, write, petition and join me. Some (influential people i.e the actorvists like the Jesse Williams’s, Malcolm Jamal-Warner’s and such. And the raptivists like the David Banner’s and Talib Kweli’s and such) will be shot links. And the rest of the supporters and hashtag crews will be shot hashtag links (if yous really want to do more than talk)….
Regardless your race, the life you save may be your own.
That being said, The SandraBlandLaw© needs on the books and this is what is it, and why:
As I sit here and observe the copycat cases of brutality and death at the hands of officers, they all have ONE thing in common:
These cops solicited these men and women into conversation that turned into a debate that (as a civilian standing on the concrete with no judge or jury to decide right or wrong-opposing a police officer with a gun)-never stands a chance of winning, just losing by the draw.
The closest chance you for a “win” (as an alibi) while out in the concrete jungle opposing or debating a police officer, is the passerby with the cell phone recording the goings on-but still, not even that is a deterrent from police brutality or death (as we’ve been shown).
For quite a while now, I’ve been toggling with solutions for this problem and the only thing I could come up with was the need for police officers (old, new and incoming) to be subjected to psychological testing past the one they all already take: I felt they all should be subjected to an emotional response test (lie detector) test with questions specific to cultural diversity and their views and ideas on it, while asking questions determining their ability (or inability) to be fair an impartial [considering what I explain and wrote about here] I strongly believe the entire police force of the United States would be laden with a disproportionate amount of the white race (by comparison to other races).
So there went that consideration as a solution.
WHY PULLOVERS AND BEING STOPPED BY THE POLICE IS A NECESSARY & ESSENTIAL PART OF POLICE BUSINESS AND ACTUALLY HELPS YOU (THE CITIZEN)
I’m obsessed with intricate details, loopholes and piecing together puzzles—finding solutions and getting results from findings.
My very first year in college, I was inspired by all the CSI-type shows and wanted to be a criminologist or forensics specialist. So to start, I majored in criminal justice and
