Heart throb, ladies man, and king of R&B: R. Kelly’s humble beginnings began while being a lead singer in a group out of Chicago called R. Kelly and the Public Announcement.
Here lately, life for R. Kelly is imitating art-in a way [or name].
The I’m a Flirt crooner may very well be confident in his manhood enough to wear a kilt/skirt–and as well, reports are surfacing that his daughter Jaya, is too, very comfortable with hanging her skirt up—for good.
The Trapped in the Closet singer’s 13 year-old daughter made a public announcement herself: she came out (as transgender) to the world via a blog post on a social media forum a couple weeks ago by writing that she identified as a boy since she was “around six or seven” [years old].
In a vague and less than concrete response [“signature of R. Kelly”–circa 2002, like in an Ed Gordon interview where he danced around answering questions about his involvement with the under-aged girl on a video tape that made its way around the world], last Monday, Kelly spoke to his hometown radio station WGCI regarding his daughter’s public announcement by stating:
“You really don’t want to open it up by saying my daughter is becoming my son. Don’t even give the blogs that kind of credit…you know what I’m saying? Real talk.”
(See the 3:39 second of the video):
The I Believe I Can Fly singer continued on by saying:
“As far as that is concerned, always believe what you see with your own eyes that is. Always believe what you see. That is the best way to go about this business. And I’ve heard a lot of things about a lot of people and it wasnever true. You gotta know there’s a back story. There’s a background. That’s why you can’t judge nobody.”
According to our sources, Jaya (who now refers to himself as just: Jay”) said [s]he was very eager to get the gender reassignment surgery and explained [in the post]:
“I believe I am a boy and want surgery, and the medication to help me [be] who I was supposed to be.”
Jay said [s]he came out to his older sister and mother-reality television star Andrea Kelly of VH1’s “Hollywood Exes”and via [the social media post] wrote:
“I told her because I knew she would love me no matter what, she has not once judged me in life. She always told me that she loved me and to be who I truly am.”
Along with the singer, Andrea Kelly chimed in on the situation by expressing:
“A mother’s love is like that of God; it’s nothing you can do to earn, nothing you can do to lose it and nothing will ever change it … I love my baby no matter what and his courage makes it so easy to be a proud mom.”
Although since the singer she’s re-married, R. Kelly and his wife-dancer: Andrea were divorced [2009], after thirteen years together.
The two met while she was worked as a backup dancer for R. Kelly years ago and is the mother of all three of his children.
Although the Seems Like You’re Ready (To Go All The Way) crooner made a statement to WGCI regarding his daughter Jay’s coming out, according to Jay, R. Kelly “has not reached out” [since s/he made her public announcement]. As well, s/he admitted that her relationship with Kelly is “very complicated,” however.
R. Kelly revealed to WGCI that he supports his children (quote) “especially financially” (unquote).
He went on to explain (in his “signature R. Kelly” way):
“You save money so your kids can go to college…no matter what they are or who they are, they’re your kids, you gotta support them / I have three lovely, lovely kids that I am in love with and that’s in love with me.”
Ummm. Okay…
When it comes to “my business being none of your business-despite the fact that my occupation is the public’s business,” I can’t say that I blame him for not giving the public concrete answers so…we’ll buy that for whatever it’s worth, Alex. Thank you.
