…this story is about:
When an artist is a talent [such that although their art is personal], and what they do becomes public; the ‘fame’ or ‘famous’ part is a whole different ballgame and people that step out there and into it handle it differently-sometimes-to their detriment or demise. But before we judge them, we gotta talk about it.
We gotta talk about the step of sharing your art with a public world and the [sometimes] “persona” or confidence you have to put forth in order to perform your art FOR the world when behind closed doors, your world is actually closed.
We already know what’s spinning today in the world of our dearly beloved Prince is the shock and awe that (so far) no trace of a will is coming out therefore, his sister (whom even she is on record for saying he simply thought so was crazy and had a strained on again/off again relationship with) may be the sole heir to all he’s worked for.
To that, if we were to “pseudo science” or intuitive science it down, I’d simply tell you that like me, given [being] Gemini, it’s no surprise. Whether you are a girlfriend, friend, or band of any Gemini, the best way to stay on board with or understand them and not hurt yourself is to understand three words and communication: short trips. Gems don’t move in long-term steps: it’s just not their forte. Most anything with them is a one day at a time thing because in one day, to know or work with them, they will change their mental minds like yesterday never was.
So in short, where something as morbid and long term out and far away for a thriving, vibrant man who just the day before his death asked his fans to save their prayers because he wasn’t leaving this earth anytime soon, I can see where no will will ever be found.
Moving on past that, to many (and even me) what’s on its way out next, is (too) going to come as quite the surprise to all, but, like how I segued into this: Art/Talent v. fame are two different animals. Just because you love the art and what you do, no matter how much of it you can put out; that doesn’t necessarily mean you are ready for the fame and all that comes with that.
Considering how much swag and confidence Prince seemed to have (onstage) had all these years, we gotta admit he was a recluse and we can count on our hands how many interviews he’s done.
Before this new news started circling, as I watched (and tweeted while watching) Saturday nights Jimmy Fallon/SNL40 it was on the tip of my fingers to notate [how] at end-show, how nervous and out of place seemed standing there and before I could type it, he hopped off the stage and into oblivion.
That, in conjunction with one of the most prolific artists of all time being atop the list of a recluse such that his closed door world seemed light years away from the “him” onstage, could it be true that Prince’s stage freight and anxiety was something we all knew nothing about?
Just because your art and talent may be big and ready doesn’t always mean you are ready (and comfortable) with the “fame” part of being famous.
So let’s talk about it…
