I mean. We like Nicki and we like Meek.
We even like how Meek [and even Chris Brown]’s “don’t want any drama” maturity peeked through the pixels of their response to Drake and Future’s new mixtape drop yesterday (whereby both Chris and Meek were dissed).
Given the unforgivable world of social media who, although is over the hype of the Meek Mill v. Drake wax flack and clap-backs; still (despite all things quiet since but considering the defeat title held by Mill) are we ready for a Meek Mill-Nicki Minaj mag cover together-“powercoupling” just yet?
Well whether we’re ready or not, they snagged one. And obviously someone at Gentlemen’s Quality (GQ) felt Meek-Nick was worth the spread of breaking their magazine feature cherry and an Ellen Von Unwerth photo shoot. (Minaj’s mom, Carol Maraj, wasn’t so easily sold on the rapper dating her daughter just yet however).
In the interview, Nicki speaks about still being a ‘newbie’ in the game of love-with this being the third one, and having never let her guard down but for two others.
That being so, Nicki says this relationship with Meek certainly has her mom…and family…and pastor (with whom she credits as being like a second mother) on guard.
Feeling a new leash on life in the relationship [quote] “department” [end quote], where her relationship with the popular rap star is concerned, the starry-eye star explains that she’s prepared and ready to take this thing on and proceed full steam gleam ahead with Mill who had her at “hello”—literally.
Nicki, 32, says she knew he was the one after their very first conversation on he telephone and despite the industry’s old rule (that artists lose their appeal to the opposite sex when it is known for a fact that they have a significant other) unlike her relationship with longtime boyfriend (slash) business partner Safaree; she is no way was going to keep Meek, 28, on the hush but withOUT the need to make their relationship an A-list in the eyes of the public.
“We were friends for a very long time and he was someone that I was able to really confide in. Nothing that we do is for TV,” expressed Nicki.
Although the interview was great, and seeing as though this is their very first shoot and interview, considering her celebrity by comparison to his…Nicki’s going to have to establish lines of respect to journalism media next time because he (Mark Anthony Green) KEPT Meek in a meekish ‘fanboy’ zone with all these … “how does it feel to date/kiss/date ‘Nicki Minaj’ ” type of emasculating eMAGsculating questions. Questions which ‘charged up’ my mind recalling (in his Meek diss “Charged Up” record) some line about Meek being a mere ‘fan’ of Nicki. Questions like this interviewer asked is just NOT a good look for Meek’s manhood, status [by comparison to Nicki’s in the world’s eyes] which ultimately –one too many times-can affect his position in the relationship.
That part/those questions, was a bit annoying and well (to be honest) I don’t know if it was because the writer was new, a fan of Nicki, just a little ‘quirky’ or if it was with the zeal of the excitement of meeting and interviewing the girl he beat off to a time or two but either way, it was a liiiiittttle creepy…but it was a great interview because he asked all the right questions (that everyone wants to know). And more importantly; knew who he was interviewing (which aided in his asking all the right questions).
It was obvious that he didn’t have to ‘research’ Nicki and Meek and ‘do his job.’ He KNEW his interviewees and well…that over rides everything else.
At any rate, read for yourself and judge:
On how ‘normal’ they are:
Meek Mill: Very un-normal. It still ain’t normal. You think so?
Nicki Minaj: I definitely think we have a normal relationship off-camera. We’re like any other couple in the hood. We’re growing as a couple and as people and as human beings, but we still have our careers. And I think probably the only thing that makes it un-normal is that we’re both successful artists, and that’s probably not normal. But other than that, our feelings are very normal. Like, if I were to speak to a hundred girls right now about what they go through with their boyfriend, we’d probably have stuff in common.
On double-dating or the idea of the perfect double-date:
Meek Mill: I don’t know. A lot of people. Alicia Keys and Swiss Beats. Jay-z and Beyonce.
Nicki Minaj: Yeah, I happen to love Alicia and Swizz because they’re both so
