lived up to her 80s title “The Boss” and obviously got her way because as popular culture history would have it-she certainly released the digital short AND visual–depicting everything she said she wanted in this ‘man.’
Given her own demands about what kind of body she wanted in a man, Ross “The Boss” would certainly be remised to not hold herself to that same standard, right?
Well, she played fair and released an 80s music video called “Work That Body” where she sings about—working her body [out], too.

As an ode to her mama, Tracee Ellis Ross who, in art (as “Joan” in girlfriends, her alter ego rapping self #TMurda, or as “Rainbow Johnson” the matriarch in her hot television show “Blackish”) doesn’t take herself too seriously—in her real life, either.
Emulating her mother’s moves, Tracee recreates her mom’s “Work That Body” video by giving it a kick of ‘sweetness’ and satire like only Tracee Ellis-Ross can.
“I recreated my Mom’s Work That Body video from 1981 as a fun experiment and a surprise for my mama! And ODE to her. While she has so, so many incredible moments to choose from, this one had an impact on me.” –Tracee Ellis-Ross
