There’s a lot going on during the Pre-show of all the awards shows, and sometimes throughout the excitement and mayhem-sometimes things go awry .
Nothing can be further from the truth than one of the most seemingly most inconsiderate faux pas made by the exec at E! News.
During live on the air programming of their pre-show festivities, they were listing “fun facts” across the screen (all having to do with little tidbits of information about random celebrities-for their viewers).
A not-so-fun fact popped up regarding long time working actor Michael J. Fox (from the 90′ popular television show “Family Ties”).
In 1991 Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and he eventually announced it to the world-so, it has been known for quite some time now.
Well, that tidbit of information (about his having Parkinsons) popped up on the screen [verbatim]: “Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991.”
Although that is a fact, it certainly is not a “fun fact” and the execs at the station have made every sincere effort to apologize to Fox about the error (slash) faux pas.
Here’s a fun fact: Despite being diagnosed with the disease, Fox did return to television and was nominated for Best Actor in a TV Series Comedy for “The Michael J. Fox” show, which was loosely based on his reality in that (the character in the show) returns back to work four years after a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.
The only not so fun fact about that was: The category was won by “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Andy Samberg, however, that is a “fun fact” (for Andy Samberg).
