The Washington Navy Yard is on lockdown after reports of “active” shooter on the scene prompting Naval Sea Systems to command “lockdown/shelter in place”-urging all to stay put and inside wherever they are on the yard “shelter in place.”
Although no injuries have been reported as yet (and hopefully none will have to be reported), officials are taking this seriously given the shooting in the Navy Yard in September 2013 when a Navy contractor/lone gunman commixed to shooting at random on the yard-killing 12 before being killed while trading fire with police on the scene.
This wasn’t a workplace shooting or act of rage. Reports surfaced the gunman began shooting from “hearing radio waves.”
