Hosted by comedian-actor Wayne Brady (who also performed):
…The 2015 BET Honors was held last night.
“Everyone’s favorite mom” was the phrase etched into the night at last night BET Honors (scheduled to air on BET on February 23).
Honored with a theatrical arts award, Bill Cosby’s TV wife: Phylicia Rashad, was presented the award by which she accepted from television veteran actor Glynn Thurman and the legendary Diahann Carroll.
While accepting his speech, singer Usher gave Rashad his personal rendition of recognition and honor:
“Phylicia, none of us in this room can’t say you haven’t been a mom to us in some way.”
Having being the recipient of such an honor and all things considered (given Bill Cosby’s recent mounting allegations), although many wondered if he would join his iconic tv wife (who outside of her work in theater, television, and stage) the world doesn’t get to see as much; the answer was no-much to no one’s surprise, he did not join her.
Bill Cosby didn’t make an appearance any more than his name was uttered-not even by Rashad who, just a couple weeks ago asserted that she was misquoted as blatantly disregarding the women in the claims while defending the man she knew [as having being the antithesis of what all the claims are saying he is].
While accepting her award with all the class, style, and grace that we’ve all grown up on to know and love, Rashad asserted:
“I was privileged to be part of one of the groundbreaking shows in television history. Legacy is important. Don’t let it go.”
In addition to Phylicia Rashad, Kanye West, Usher,
Jonnetta Betsch Cole, the director of the National Museum of African Art, and John W. Thompson (chairman of Microsoft) all accepted awards at the BET Honors.
Performances were had by Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Patti LaBelle, K. Michelle and more:
LoL.
And of course, while we were admiring the surprise drop of Kanye’s song with Paul McCartney and Rihanna, he was live on stage at the BET Honors–being Kanye saying:
“You know…I just wanna say that: ‘…and a white girl gon’ go get a rich black dude. You know..I just wanna say that: my wife…has dated…broke black dudes.”

Clean! Matching down to the detail of Kanye’s lapels! Ha! Get with that already!
Damon Dash, former business partner, long-known for having issues with rap star and business mogul Jay Z; presented Kanye with his Visionary Award, expressing:
” I got issues with Kanye but they’re emotional.”
Not even the the gap in communication (or lack thereof) twix Jay Z and Kanye v. Dame was no hindrance on this selfie:
