Along with manager Phil McIntyre, Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are in cahoots in a joint venture to launch a record label.
Lovato just announced her part-ownership with Safehouse Records which will release her fifth studio album and join forces with Island Records and her current label and the Disney-owned Hollywood Records that too, will be signing new talent in the near future.
Currently, Disney Music Group’s roster includes Grace Potter, Bea Miller, R5, and Breaking Benjamin.
Lovato expressed:
“I’ve worked closely with both Nick and Phil for years and we share the same point of view when it comes to making music. It’s incredibly exciting to be part of this new company where I’m in control of all aspects of my career. I can’t wait to share what we’re working on!”
Co-founders Jonas and McIntyre dually note that teaming up with Island means “access to the best marketing and promotion available.”
Island Records’ CEO and president David Massey told Billboard that in addition to having a professional relationship with McIntyre, his career objectives and work ethic” was impressive.
“I really liked the culture he wanted to create: a small label that’s highly focused and very artist-driven as opposed to something that would have to be able to grow exponentially,” said Massey-about a year ago when talk of a new label was being had.
Jealous star Nick Jonas is currently signed to Island from whence his hits Jealous and Chains reign so this joint venture is pretty much full circle and kept all in the family!
