Here of late, refugees being detained has been the name of the game and shame. But former Re(Fugees)’ member Wyclef Jean couldn’t have ever guessed in that it would be he who needed to call 911—literally.

Today, in what is being reported as mistaken identity, Jean was apprehended by deputies in Los Angeles while being mistaken for a robbery suspect, where reportedly, a robbery had occurred near the studio where the hip hop artist had been working.

In the wee hours of [this] morning, Wyclef was filmed with his hands behind his back where a (obviously with him or bystander witnessing), shot the video.

The artist explains: “L.A., right now, coming from the studio. Y’all see the police have handcuffs on me. They just took off my Haitian bandanna. That’s what’s going on right now with Wyclef in L.A. right now. The L.A.P.D. have me in cuffs for absolutely nothing,” expressed the “911″ Haitian-bred rap artist, musician, writer and producer.

Along with multi-Grammy award winning member Lauryn Hill, in addition to being a member of the successful rap group The Fugees, Wyclef Jean is also best known for his work with a young Beyonce and Destiny’s Child-having produced their Columbia Records hit: “No. No. No.”
