…So Had I Pulled Out My Phone To Call For “Help,” Like ALFRED OLANGO, Myself Or My Son Would Have Been Killed

teenage girl appeared.

She peeked into the car with an almost embarrassed smirk on her face that I didn’t understand until later.

With my arms tightly around my boy parked near an alley street in the neighborhood we were in-my yell probably looked and sounded nothing more than two people pulled over, who decided to park and getting it poppin.’

Nothing was farther from the truth.

Fast forward (a big boy now while still growing up with me); when his next growth spurt occurred, we were prepared with Tegretol, a much better time released medication that’s kept him seizure-free. This medication was so good that his having a seizure would only tell on you if you were late giving him the pills.

However, before that time and after repeated coaching and lessons from my mom, I got a better handle at controlling myself [the few times since] my son would have an episode and was out of [control].

Given the recent chain of events where innocent people were just in need of help (or even selling cigarettes or CDs) and wound up dead, perhaps it was a blessing that I didn’t think to pull my cell phone out of my purse to call for “help.”

Because given my frantic disposition and considering what just happened to a man named Alfred Olang, myself or my son certainly definitely would have been shot—by the very same police officers I would have called for “help” from.

Certainly if a teeanager misinterpreted my screams for passion and sex, an overzealous officer would have misinterpreted my screams as a purpose to shoot.
