glitter gold star Truth be told, I seriously doubt that in however length of time the pie was already out-it sold out to the tune of $2 million in a week. Patti wouldn’t even need to provide receipts for proof of that, Walmart would have publicized it for her—receipts in hand.

Does she owe him?

 

No. But it would be nice if she had stuffed his pockets with a little something as, he did bless her with some awesome Emmy-Oscar-Grammy worthy free marketing and advertising. But she Patti Labell and fandoesn’t owe him (and surprisingly, doesn’t care how not having giving him a slice of the pie may make her look in the eyes of the majority who feel perhaps she should have or do owe the guy).

glitter gold starIn closing, I’ll say this. Take this worldwide example as that double-edge sword of the Internet.

Something came across my desk the other day where it was being discussed that bloggers, and big media outlets use Twitter and other social media sites’ posts and quotes when telling our stories and that these person’s should be compensated.

Well, they are compensated and paid in the form of attention..Paid: attention.

You have the right to remain silent. Everything to Tweet, or YouTube can (and will) be held to you  and…(although praised), not promised paid—nothing but: Attention.

If that’s the case, Monday through Thursday night show–owes the entire world of Twitter and social media is owed a check. That back and forth commentary up and down those same social media timelines is marketing and advertising every show, tragedy, baby genius, dog, cat or person being discussed for the day or week.

Get over the notion that your valuable contribution provides value for you if you are out here putting all your value on Twitter and FB posts instead of your own platform. Like it or not-people who either simply do it for fun, to pass time and want/expect nothing nothing do that. Others who want attention (and likes) do that. But then there are others -people who know their value-they put their value where attention could be garnered and contained where they wish to add/circulate value and paid (work WITH and funnel value through to
