WAYNE COMMUNITY COLLEGE: 1 Suspect in Fatal Shooting On The Loose – Campus Closed Remainder of Day + College Updates Media

At approximately 8:10 this morning, acting alone, a suspect entered the building and shot a Wayne Community College employee.

The college in turn, took on its emergency lock down protocol but since then, has dismissed all students while searching the perimeters for the suspect.

As of 1:20 p.m., the college updated the public with the following:

At approximately 8:10 a.m., Monday, April 13, a single suspect entered a building on the Wayne Community College campus. An employee, Ron Lane, was shot and was fatally wounded. The college went into lockdown, following its protocols. Law enforcement established a perimeter and is actively searching for the suspect. There was not a hostage situation on the campus. Students and employees were evacuated from their lockdown positions in an orderly fashion. The college is closed for the remainder of today. All classes and activities are canceled. Information regarding classes for the remainder of the week will be announced when available.

MEDIA: A follow-up press conference will be held near the digital sign by Wayne Memorial Drive at 2 p.m.
