Former 3rd place The Voice singing contestant Christina Grimmie lost a kind of battle today-in the most grimy and unthinkable way.
Hours after the singer posted to her social media account-an invitation for fans to come and support she and her pop punk band [Before You Exit]’s show at Plaza Live Theater in Orlando, Florida, the singer was killed.
Post exit, while signing autographs, talking with fans and selling fan memorabilia; a random guy-armed with two guns and a knife-walked up to her and shot her.
The suspect was immediately tackled to the ground by Grimmie’s brother. At that point, the gunman shot and killed himself. No other bystanders were injured.
Grimmie was immediately taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where around 3:30 this morning. At that time, it was being reported that she was in critical condition following the shooting that was reported as having happened just after 10 pm last night.
Grimmie, a former YouTube sensation turned The Voice’s sixth season contender in 2014, was the last to perform at the theater and going home from there when this tragic senselessness happened.
Christina had signed a deal with Island Records.
