potato pie is to #ThanksgivingWithBlackFamilies is what pumpkin pie is to #ThanksgivingWithWhiteFamilies and nobody could prove that truer than Patti LaBelle right now.
The legendary soul singer, DWTS contestant, American Horror Story actress, cookbook author and now popular sweet potato pie connoisseur got herself 1 (literally ONE) rave review that took her once modestly and humbly stocked pie stocked pie flying off the shelves and into oblivion when an unknown entertainer by the name of James Wright sang the praises of it in a You Tube video that went about as viral as the traffic to Walmart spiraled: out of control and out of stock yielding $2 million in sales in less than 7 days.
Unfortunately, the world over heard the record scratch about the pie made from scratch and as we reported, LaBelle almost hit a sour note in this mixture when video of her was shot by our TerMiteZ friends-showing her nearly canceling out Wright as being the force behind so many who, thanks to him, the pies were now with.
As you know (as per our write-up on it last week-explaining the politics, and power of social media) Wright got done right and an invite to have Thanksgiving dinner with LaBelle and as it turns out, that part of the sweet deal was made good on. Patti chatted with Fox29’s Quincy Harris:
