As well, we hear that DuVernay is bringing to OWN television-a series titled Queen Sugar (a series adaptation of the novel from whence it is inspired)

Debbie Allen (Actor/Director/Dancer)

1976-guest starred on Good Times and past three decades has starred on the 80s popular hit show Fame, guest starred on: the Cosby Show, A Different World,  Everybody Hates Chris and Grey’s Anatomy (just to name a few)

Issa Rae (Actor/Writer)

Has previously worked with Shonda Rhimes and is the writer/producer of The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl and rose to fame in 2013 via a comedy titled I Hate L.A. dudes. Although ABC passed on the show, she did secure a deal with HBO and currently starring in a new series called Insecure. Insecure is about two African-American women living in L.A while trying to figure it all and find their way.

The say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. And well, Issa Rae did. Along with her business partner (Denise Davis) Rae established ColorCreative.Tv-a platform for up and coming screenwriters to get their pilots funded, produced and seen on the big screen.

Mara Brock Akil (Writer/Creator)

BET’s The Game and  Being Mary Jane and head honcho starring actress Gabrielle Union. Currently in production for makeover show where celebrity trainer Jeanette Jenkins will be on board to help willing participants take charge of their health and wellness overall.
