#RIPBigAng : Reality Star Loses Stage 4 Battle With Cancer + Sat Down With DR. OZ Just Days Ago
Charming, reality star Angela Raiola, affectionately known as “Big Ang,” 55, has passed away (reportedly) Thursday morning.
The raspy voice, larger than life Mob Wives cast member died of cancer.
Originally diagnosed of throat cancer, the cancer had spread to her brain and right lung.
Back in March (2015) although a lemon sized tumor was found in her throat and found to be cancerous, she did undergo surgery and was declared cancer-free as recently as October (2015) but by December 2015, was diagnosed with stage 4 brain and lung cancer and although she begun chemo on January 5, it didn’t help or cure the cancer-one the tumor grew larger.
Not anticipating things the spiral out of control and so fast, BigAng’s sister Janine Detore started a crowd funding page that, in two days surpassed its $25k goal.
In January 2016, a statement from her family read:
“On January 26th the doctor reviewed her CT scan and informed us that the treatment was not working, and in fact one tumor grew larger and the other tumors had no change. We were advised that she would start immunotherapy the following week. Well here we are at the emergency room waiting to see why her breathing is labored and the amount of pain she is having is by far more than she could handle.”
“Angela cannot function to work anymore,” she explained.
“We all thank you in advance for your prayers & kind wishes. Help Big Ang fight her BIGGEST BATTLE!”
Just days ago, on February 16, BigAng did sit down with Dr. Oz and confirmed her diagnosis of stage 4 diagnosis of lung and brain cancer and prognosis of a 30% chance of survival. As well, she spoke candidly about her 6 year marriage to Neil Murphy-stating it too, wasn’t getting any better.
“It’s shocking what happened,” she shared. “First I thought I was cancer-free. I was gonna have a big celebration…and then a month later I was stage 4.”
Before it was officially announced Big Ang had died,
