Meat Healthier Than Lettuce ?

download (10)worse in greenhouse gas emissions than eating bacon. Lots of common vegetables require more resources per calorie than you would think. Eggplant, celery and cucumbers look particularly bad when compared to pork or chicken.”

Obviously, (over researching the benefits or warnings about personal/physical consumption of meat) this particular study was done strictly based on environmental and emissions outcomes by looking at the entire food chain supply from growing it, processing, transporting, food sales and service, and storing it before shipping and selling it and what it determined is that each step it took from growth to grocers, the energy, water and GHG emissions were big environmental factors (versus the process of growth to grocers with meat and foul).

This (environmental) study determined that eating so called “recommended healthier foods” (vegetables, fruits, dairy and seafood) had larger negatively environmental impacts in all three categories (energy, water, GHG emissions)-reporting that energy use shot up by 38%, water increased by 10% and GHG emission increased by 6%.

Fishbeck noted that eating 100 calories of lettuce would amount to many heads (of lettuce) which (as per greenhouse gas emissions/GHG) take more resources than eating 100 calories of bacon (two small slices) adding that there are other protein and calorie rich vegan foods that have a lower negative environmental impact than bacon.

Obviously he was going to have to interject that because again, like I mentioned earlier, this new research is based on emission and environmental studies as a result of growing and raising vegetables versus that of meat and foul.

That said, considering the sodium, trans fats and other relatively not so healthy things about it (and non-vegan meat), the bottom line is a choice between caring about the environment around you (or inside you).

I’m willing to bet with two slices of bread, and some yummy Hellman’s on their bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches, BLT lovers’ll feel they’ve done their part for the environment without depriving themselves!

Hey…it’s all about balance, right?

LoL.
