She’ll Never Be Royal? LORDE’s “Pure Heroine” Proves Heroic, Breaks Record
Nielsen SoundScan has scanned and spoken: According to its statistical data released; sales for Lourde’s first album “Pure Heroine” has surpassed over 1 million copies sold she has officially become the first music entertainer to have a debut album reach more than 1 million in sales since October (2013).
Additionally, the self-proclaimed feminist is also the first woman to reach over 1 million copies for a debut album since Adele’s 2011 debut album.
Lorde’s album remained in the Top 20 on the Billboard 200 since its debut in October and currently sits at number six (right behind Beyonce’s album).
This is good news for women in music as Beyonce ended 2013 as the only woman to sell 1 million copies and in 2014 Lorde comes in close second-Katy Perry’s second album “Prism” too, sold over 1 million.
Lordes current single “Team” has climbed the Billboard Hot 100 charts and currently sits and number seven and is slowly following the success of her Grammy-award winning first single “Royals,” (which remained in the number one spot for nine weeks in 2013).
Seems as though everything Lorde touches right about now is moving up.
Her third single “Glory and Gore” debuted on Billboards Hot 100 charts this week at number 88 already and from the looks of things thus far, will too, rise to the top of the charts.
