So much for my wishful thinking about Beyonce performing at the Grammys: “7/11”—

sliding across the stage in a pair of briefs, with her home girls-complete with some makeshift hotel room prop in the back.

Aint gonna happen.

No ma’am.

ledisi beyonceTurns out, Beyonce will be taking a more tamed approach upon the Grammy stage than presumably thought-taking us back to her gospel roots this time around.

According to sources, she will be lending her chops to be apart of the Selma soundtrack tribute-singing the historical spiritual made popular by the late Mahalia Jackson: Precious Lord, Take My Hand.

While all that may be well and good, rumor has it there’s some controversy surrounding her position on this tribute.

Reportedly, she was invited and penciled in over Grammy-nominated singer Ledisi who, as well (in the film) played Mahalia Jackson. As well Ledisi recorded the version of Precious Lord, Take My Hand as found on the Selma soundtrack however, will not be joining the tribute on the Grammy stage.

Obviously this gave Twitter much adieu about what’s already been done and decided upon (that regardless, they can’t do anything about). But the walls of Twitter, yet again, served as its usual Library of Congress filed sounding board for fans of Ledisi versus Beyonce’s-arguing points of views on everything from the popularity Beyonce over Ledisi’s to the light skin/dark skin debate.

ledisi beyonceYawn.

Ho hum.

The fact of the matter is—alls a go as penciled and planned.

Bright side: Both ladies got chops—so, there’s no argument about who could pull the song off better. So…could be worse right?

Well for now, both ladies’ hearts as well as the show will go on but too (if this serves any comfort to either fan base):

Ledisi is nominated for Best R&B Performance for Like This (from her “The Truth” album).

Also competing in that same category; Beyonce will be the contender for Drunk in Love.
