Jill Scott will be the receiving quite the award solidifying and honoring her something like the words of her own song: “Living My Life Like It’s Golden.”
The singer-actress, three-time Grammy winner is set to receive an honorary doctorate (Doctor of Humane Letters) from her alma mater:Temple University on Thursday, May 15, 2014 for her charitable contributions in the arts and music fields.
Due to financial reasons, although Scott was forced to leave college sooner than anticipated; Temple University’s President Neil D. Thoebald still feels Jill is worthy-stating: “her values and achievements embody the mission and ideas of the university.”
In addition to expanding her singing career and successfully acting in lead roles of some of popular culture’s biggest movies, Jill is also the winner of three Soul Train Awards, an NAACP Image Award, and 2001’s Lady of Soul Award…that…is golden indeed. As well, she is being honored today for being golden in deed.
