After putting human faces and lives to the horrific accounts of a trusted “officer of the courts” (slash) “citizens protector’s” disgustingly deviant sexual acts against 13 women’s will Daniel Holtzclaw looks even more like the monster than he was.
After being detained by Daniel Holtzclaw-all alone in dark alleys, vacant streets and such, after hearing he was handed down a 263 year sentence; it’s no wonder a sigh of relief should come over this mad man’s victims who now, not only got closure but can breathe freely with relief and with the joy in knowing he won’t be released any time in this lifetime.
After several long months of Holtzclaw’s using his power and position by putting 13 women with families (and even women with grandchildren) in brazen and compromising positions; the other worst is over.
In considering these crimes were committed during a sensitive time all over America where (white on black males) police officer shootings were running amok and cops were running free of consequence; the horror these women must have faced not knowing if they would live to see another day of life while being detained and sexually violated by Holtzclaw who stalked, researched and targeted poor, black women [who were on] record for minor drug and petty theft crimes and that he took advantage of neither being credible against his military, educational and non-civilian credentials.
Holtzclaw’s reign of rape and terror ended when he tried it with a grandmother (who not only was not from the neighborhood and his usual stomping hunting grounds) had no felony record or prior misdemeanors. It was due to her that the other women were able to be heard, which ultimately gave the other victims a voice and the courage to speak out with the youngest victim being just 17 years old—and raped on her mother’s front porch.
The ironies in this case are far too hard to ignore given that while
