We called it didn’t we? We hinted to you that rejecting Babs was gonna be a bad idea considering the fact that if Beyonce likes anything: it’s charting—at the top, right?
Well, let me fresh your memory.
Barbara Streisand, legendary singer/actress and recordholder of:
- a Grammy
- an Oscar
- a Tony
…(and only artist/person in the entire world who has ever won all four prestigious honors), doubled-tapped Queen Bey to be apart of her CD Partners-released in September 2014 and debut #1 on the Billboard charts-but Beyonce respectfully declined
Partners is the year’s highest first week sales for a female (her 10th chart topper by the way).
Partners (Streisand’s 31st album)’s platinum-selling certification (which shipped more than $1 million copies in the U.S.) extends the lead from Streisand’s nearest competitor Madonna (who, by the way has 8 number 1 albums)-this is Babs’ 10th.
According to Billboard, this feat makes her the only act to secure a number one album in each of the last six decades.
Now, moving up the charts toward the 74 million mark in he U.S alone, Babs has now secured the top spot in female history ahead of Madonna, and now Mariah Carey (currently holds the 64th-65th spot).
No…we’re no going to chant Babs in singing “Who’s Sorry Now? …What? What Kind of Fool,” because we all know Beyonce holds her own, respectively.
But she missed the mark on passing up the opportunity to make history with a legend in her own right…respectively.
